Solar installations

Solar, battery and EV charging, planned as one system

We assess the system around your property, usage and future plans, then put the exact equipment in writing. Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.

Where to start

Three ways into solar

Most systems start as one of these three. Each one leaves the next step open.

Today

Solar now

Generate power during the day and cut the amount you buy from the grid. System size is matched to usable roof area, daytime demand and network limits.

Ready for later

Battery-ready solar

Install solar with an inverter and switchboard plan that keeps future storage practical. This can avoid unnecessary replacement work when a battery is added later.

All in one

Solar, battery and EV

Store excess solar for evening use or selected backup loads, then direct spare solar to a compatible EV charger. Capacity and charging power are sized around real usage.

More on home batteries and EV charging.

Design first

Right size before brand

A good design starts with how and when you use electricity, not a logo.

  • Roof and shadeOrientation, pitch and shading across the day set what the roof can generate.
  • SupplySingle or three-phase supply changes the inverter and EV charging options.
  • Daytime useHow much power the house uses in daylight decides how much solar is used directly.
  • Backup circuitsBackup during an outage is a design choice, not automatic. It depends on the equipment and the circuits included.
  • Switchboard capacitySpace and capacity on the board shape what can be added now and later.
  • Future EV demandA vehicle on the horizon changes system size and charger placement.

On site

Coorparoo, at dusk

A rooftop array on a finished house. Nothing on the roof announces itself, which is the point: the work that decides how a system performs happens before anything is mounted.

How it works

Where the energy goes

Panels feed the inverter, the inverter feeds the switchboard, and the switchboard decides where the power is used. Watch a day pass, or drag the timeline to any hour.

Where the energy goes across one day Sunlight reaches rooftop panels, passes through an inverter to the switchboard, and from there runs the house, charges a battery, charges an electric vehicle, or exports to the grid. The grid connection also runs in reverse. The lit paths change as the day moves from before sunrise through to night. Before sunrise the roof makes nothing, so the switchboard takes everything the house needs from the grid.

The grid connection runs both ways. The house imports when it needs more than the roof is making, and exports spare generation under the network's rules.

The day shown here is an illustration of how solar, a battery and a charger share power. It is not a forecast for any particular roof.

Federal schemes

Solar and battery discounts, explained

Two federal schemes can lower the upfront cost of eligible systems. Neither has a fixed value.

Solar STCs
Small-scale technology certificates Eligible rooftop solar systems can create STCs under the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. Many households assign the right to create them in exchange for an upfront discount on the installed price. The value depends on the system, the location, the installation date and the current rules.
Batteries
Cheaper Home Batteries Program A federal program that discounts eligible home batteries connected to a new or existing solar system. Support depends on the battery, its usable capacity, the installation date and the program rules, which change over time, so no fixed dollar amount applies.
Eligibility
Approved products, accredited people Both schemes require equipment from the approved product lists, and design and installation by appropriately accredited people. The current rules are published by the Clean Energy Regulator and the federal energy department.

Equipment

Some of the brands we work with

We work across recognised solar, battery and energy brands, then select the equipment that suits the site rather than forcing every home into one package.

Solar panels

  • Canadian Solar
  • AIKO
  • Trina Solar
  • LONGi Solar
  • REC
  • TCL Solar
  • JinkoSolar

Inverters & energy

  • Sigenergy
  • GoodWe
  • Fronius
  • Sungrow
  • Tesla
  • Enphase

Exact equipment is selected for your roof, switchboard, energy use, backup needs and budget. The written quote confirms models, compatibility and manufacturer warranties.

Commercial

Commercial solar and electrical

Workplaces as well as homes.

Becka Electrical carries out commercial solar and commercial electrical work. The approach does not change: the design follows the site and the way it uses energy, and the quote is put in writing.

The paperwork

A written quote, every time

Every job is quoted for the site. The quote goes to you in writing so you can read it, compare it and keep it.

  1. 01
The exact modelsThe panel, inverter and any battery or charger models proposed for the site, by name.
  2. 02
Why they suitHow the selection matches the roof, the supply, the switchboard and the way you use power.
  3. 03
How it fits togetherCompatibility, monitoring, and any staged additions planned for later.
  4. 04
The terms that applyManufacturer warranty terms are quote-specific. Australian Consumer Law rights apply in addition.

Questions

Common solar questions

Short answers here. Site-specific answers in the quote.

Do you install batteries and EV chargers?

Yes. Solar, battery storage and EV charging are planned around the property, electricity use, switchboard, backup needs and future plans. There are separate pages for home batteries and EV charging.

Are federal solar or battery discounts available?

Eligible systems may receive discounts through solar STCs or the Cheaper Home Batteries Program. Eligibility and value depend on the site, installation date, usable capacity, approved equipment and current rules.

Which brands do you work with?

Some of the brands we work with are listed on this page. Exact models, compatibility, availability and manufacturer warranty terms are quote-specific.

Do you take on commercial solar?

Yes. Commercial electrical and commercial solar are both offered. Tell us about the site and we will quote it in writing.

Which areas do you cover?

Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast, from our base at Coopers Plains. See the service areas page for more detail.

Who designs and installs the solar?

SAA accreditation S0263734 is held by Jonathan Becka and covers grid-connected PV, grid-connected battery systems and stand-alone power systems, each for design and install.
